Before the Romans set foot in Britain there is strong evidence that Ergyng was a rich and developed land, with its own iron factories, trade with Europe,plentiful fish and forest, and excellent climate. Ever since, Ergyng has produced heroes such as Vortigern, Caradoc and Arthyr, and has strong connections with Owain Glyndwr. Culturally Ergyng was a cradle of Christianity, producing a large number of leading early British saints such as St Dyfrig. Even after the English invasion this strong desire for independence manifested itself by the maintenance of autonomy right up until catastrophic illegal annexation by Henry V111 in the 16th Century...
